Scottish Citylink and Hampden Park Limited Launch Event Travel Partnership

David Kells, (Left) and Sam Greer launch the Eventslink scheme at Hampden Park.David Kells, (Left) and Sam Greer launch the Eventslink scheme at Hampden Park.Scottish Citylink, Scotland’s premier coach company, has teamed up with Hampden Park Limited, the driving force behind Scotland’s National Stadium, to introduce a number of new direct services for concert goers visiting Hampden Park.

The new services, operating from Aberdeen, Inverness, Perth, Dundee, Stirling, Aviemore and Edinburgh, will deliver fans directly to the concert venue, from their place of origin, making it much easier to get to the stadium.

It’s hoped that the ‘Eventslink’ ticket initiative will encourage music lovers to enjoy a great day out, without the expense of petrol and parking, whilst saving them the time and hassle of driving to and from the ground.

With stadium parking space at a premium it’s also hoped that the ‘Eventslink ’ ticket will have an impact on excessive congestion around the stadium.

This innovative scheme, supported by the office for the Minster of Transport, Infrastructure and Climate change, couldn’t have been introduced at a better time and the first event to benefit from the Eventslink, direct service initiative, will be the Coldplay gig on the 16th September.

Tom Wileman, CEO of Scottish Citylink said:

“Many fans are used to driving to concerts and events in their own cars, despite the cost of parking and the inconvenience of heavy traffic before and after a show. We believe that if we can show them that public transport is a credible alternative, and a benefit to the community, then perhaps music lovers will consider choosing alternative transportation to and from the stadium.”

Many of Citylink’s state-of-the-art vehicles are fitted with air-conditioning, toilets and have special lifts for wheelchair passengers, making travel not only affordable, reliable and clean, but fully accessible.

David Kells, Managing Director of Hampden Park Limited said:

“Hampden Park is committed to improving the experience of concert goers wherever possible, and the ‘Eventslink’ services fit perfectly with our objectives. They provide an easy and affordable way for ticket holders to make their way to and from the stadium at large events.”

Stephanie Docherty, Operations Manager at Citylink said:

“In these difficult financial times concert goers will find the coaches convenient and good value for money.”

Fans will also be able to relax and enjoy concerts safe in the knowledge that their return journey home is secure whatever time the concert finishes.

And to launch the scheme David Kells and Sam Greer, Director of Citylink, welcomed one of Citylink’s especially decorated Eventslink coaches into the magnificent Hampden Park Stadium, on Monday 10th August.
