The new Van Hool, Double Deckers, which are liveried with the Megabus brand, and provide the ultimate in comfort for Scottish Citylink/Megabus passengers ensuring that every journey is relaxing, enjoyable and affordable.
A double staircase, on the 87 seater coaches, allows easy access both on and off the vehicles, whilst WI-FI connection, for every passenger, gives travellers the opportunity to work, rest, and play whilst on board.
The coaches are fully wheelchair accessible and WC facilities come as standard.
The new fleet of coaches will further enhance Scottish Citylink/Megabus image, and is testimony to the success of the Citylink/Megabus brand in increasing passenger numbers between Scotland and England in recent years.
Tom Wileman, Managing Director of Scottish Citylink said:
“These are fantastic coaches that will not only benefit our passengers but also the environment, through lower emissions levels. As you would expect the two-door vehicles are fully DDA compliant and have extra features such as CCTV that broadcasts to a monitor above the driver’s seat, for extra security.”
All staircases, steps, walkways and hand rails are carefully marked in yellow and are well illuminated and designated seats on the lower deck slide forward to accommodate wheelchairs.
And with little change from £400,000, for each vehicle, Scottish Citylink/Megabus is clearly putting its money where its mouth is when it comes to passenger safety and comfort.
Stephanie Docherty, Operations Manager for Scottish Citylink/Megabus welcomed one on the new fleet into the Buchanan Street Bus station, in Glasgow, on Monday 12th October at 10.30am before it set of on its inaugural journey to London at 11.00am
