NEW SCOTTISH CITYLINK COACHES ARRIVE IN FORT WILLIAM

Scottish Citylink’s 919 service has today (Monday 16 October) welcomed four brand new coaches to its fleet following an investment of £1.2million.

The bright blue and yellow branded coaches replace the existing fleet of vehicles previously used on the route, the new timetable for which was launched in early 2017 and links Fort William to Inverness.

The British made Plaxton Elite vehicles, built in Scarborough, England offer passengers the latest in luxury travel across the Highlands.

The new coaches feature a toilet, USB ports, air conditioning and reclining seats. The four vehicles – which have the cleanest Euro 6 engines available - will replace the current 10 year old vehicles across the route.

Delivering a regular direct service, the coach link operates between 0625hrs and 1700hrs from Fort William and between 0905hrs and 1935hrs from Inverness.

Ker Corbett, Commercial Manager for Scottish Citylink took a final look over the vehicles before placing them into service. He said, “We’re delighted to be introducing these bright new vehicles into service across the Highlands. They bring a quality to the route that our passengers deserve. Not only are the new additions a great comfortable transport option but they help to ensure that we are operating a fleet that is environmentally sustainable and safe.

“These new high-spec vehicles will offer the best possible service and value for money for our passengers, who can sit back and relax during their journey.

“We continuously strive to update and upgrade our fleet so that customers can benefit from the very best, spacious and modern vehicles available and it will be great to see these new coaches travelling between Fort William and Inverness.”

The 919 timetable offers up to five return journeys a day and a direct link to both the hospital and the university at Inverness Campus from Fort William.

The services will continue throughout the winter with Monday- Friday journeys arriving at the university at Inverness Campus at 0840 and 1330, returning from the campus at 1340 and 1710, calling at Raigmore Hospital in both directions.

For regular travellers, the Flexi10 ticket for use within a 28 day period is available for £27.50 for journeys between Urquhart Castle, Drumnadrochit, Lochend, Dochgarroch and Inverness. This ticket is available from drivers on the coaches or online at www.citylink.co.uk.

Scottish Citylink is a joint venture between Perth-based transport group Stagecoach and international transport operator ComfortDelGro. Tickets can be bought online from www.citylink.co.uk or by calling the contact centre on 0871 266 3333
