Scottish Citylink and Scottish Rugby Extend Matchday Travel Partnership

Scottish Citylink, Scotland’s premier coach company, has secured its place in the RBS 6 Nations Championships having teamed up once again with Scottish Rugby, the driving force behind the sport in Scotland, to provide reduced priced matchday travel for all supporters visiting Murrayfield Stadium.

Supporters are reminded that the ‘Sportslink’ ticket initiative will allow them to enjoy a great sporting day out, without the expense of petrol and parking, whilst saving them the time and hassle of driving too and from the ground.

With stadium parking space at a premium it’s also hoped that the ‘Sportslink’ ticket will continue to have an impact on excessive congestion around the stadium.

Tom Wileman, Managing Director of Citylink said:

"Last year saw the start of our partnership with Scottish Rugby and, just like in many games, after a quiet start, the understanding began to get stronger and stronger. As word spreads that there is an alternative for supporters, to driving to matches in their own vehicles, we expect to see Sportslink become ‘The’ matchday travel partner for Murrayfield. Sportslink really is part of the Scottish Rugby team.”

The ‘Sportslink’ ticket will mean that supporters can forget the cost of parking and the inconvenience of heavy traffic, before and after the match, and will ensure that they can enjoy the pre-match entertainment, and the fiercely contested games, to the full.

Citylink will continue to supply state-of-the-art vehicles fitted with air-conditioning, toilets and special lifts for wheelchair users, providing passengers with affordable, reliable, clean and fully accessible transportation to and from the match.

Supporters on the 900 service between Glasgow and Edinburgh can alight at the Murrayfield stop on Corstorphine Road. Supporters arriving from other destinations, to Edinburgh, will be able to catch shuttle bus/coach services too and from the stadium."

Gordon McKie, CEO of Scottish Rugby said: “This is a great way of improving the matchday experience for supporters. Scottish Rugby remains committed to ensuring affordable and reliable transportation to and from the game and the ‘Sportslink’ ticket fits perfectly with our objectives.”

Stephanie Docherty, Operations Manager at Citylink said: “In financially terms it’s been an incredibly difficult year for many. And in these difficult times supporters will find the coaches extremely good value for money, making it even easier for them to follow their team.”
