Fans urged to book Rockness travel tickets in advance to beat the crowds
With just over a week until this year’s RockNess festival, Scottish Citylink is encouraging fans attending the event to take advantage of special coach services from a number of key towns and cities across Scotland.
The company will be providing direct coach services to the event from Aberdeen, Aviemore, Dundee, Dunfermline, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Perth, Elgin, Huntly, Invergowrie, Nairn, Stirling and Pitlochry. It will also operate shuttle buses from Inverness to the event outside the village of Dores.
The two-day music festival, featuring headliners Fatboy Slim and Razorlight, is being staged on Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th of June and takes place on the banks of Loch Ness, outside the picturesque village of Dores, four miles south-west of Inverness.
Around 35,000 music-loving fans are expected to attend the event and a limited number of tickets are still available.
With thousands of festival fans across the country looking forward to this year’s exciting line-up, Citylink has taken steps to ensure a smooth journey to and from the festival, with 100 seat double deckers running special services across Scotland from Friday 6th of June to Monday 9th of June.
Nicola Campbell, Marketing Manager at Scottish Citylink, said: “Rock Ness marks the start of the festival season in Scotland and thousands of fans will already be making plans for the big event.
“We are delighted to support Rock Ness again this year and will be offering fans in towns and cities across Scotland direct travel to the festival site.
Most people prefer traveling to festivals by coach as it’s hassle free, cheap and a good way of reducing your carbon footprint.
“We are advising people to book in advance to guarantee they don't miss out on a seat to get to this popular festival and also to avoid unnecessary queuing on the day.”
Return fares to the RockNess festival are as follows:
Abereen - £24
Aviemore - £15
Dundee - £23
Edinburgh - £26
Glasgow - £26
Dunfermline - £24
Elgin - £20
Huntly - £22
Inverness - £9
Nairn - £16
Perth - £21
Pitlochry - £19
Stirling - £24
Citylink will also operate shuttle buses on Friday 6th June every half hour between 11.00am to 7pm and on Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th every 10 minutes from 11.00am to 6pm, then every 15 minutes to 7pm from Inverness bus station with return fares costing just £9. Return journeys from the event to Inverness will operate from 10pm to 12pm.
Passengers wishing to travel with these special services from Citylink are required to pre-book their journey to guarantee them a seat.
This year’s RockNess festival will feature some of the hottest names in dance, electronic and rock, including The View, Underworld and Calvin Harris.
Music fans at last year’s event were treated to memorable performances by acts such as The Chemical Brothers and The Manic Street Preachers.
An event spokesman said: “This year’s RockNess promises to be even more spectacular than last year’s event, with big names such as Razorlight and Fatboy Slim attracting music fans from across the UK.
“RockNess is delighted to be continuing its relationship with Scottish Citylink to provide fans with a fast and convenient way to travel to the two-day event.”
