City's music fans get direct travel to August Festivals

14.08.2007

Special coach services have been arranged for music fans in Glasgow travelling to two major festivals taking place this month.

Scottish Citylink today announced details of direct services between the city and Connect - Scotland’s new three day music festival – and the Runrig concert (part of the Blas festival).

The Connect festival will be held in the grounds of Inveraray Castle between 31 August and 2 September and will feature an eclectic mix of music and alternative entertainment including headliners The Beastie Boys, Bjork and Primal Scream.

Runrig’s Beat the Drum concert  will take place at Borlum Farm in Drumnadrochit on Saturday (August 18) and will launch this year’s Blas festival to celebrate Gaelic and traditional music.

Scottish Citylink is supporting both events buy putting on special services from dozens of different locations across Scotland, including Inverness.

Nicola Campbell, Marketing Manager at Scottish Citylink, said: "The Connect festival is the latest addition to Scotland’s thriving festival calendar and the Runrig concert is sure to be a popular launch event for this year’s Blas festival.

“We are keen to make it as easy as possible for fans to reach the festivals from towns and cities across Scotland.

“The majority of fans going to music festivals prefer to enjoy hassle-free coach transport to the event and we are advising people to book in advance to guarantee they don't miss out on a seat and also to avoid unnecessary queuing on the day.”

As well as headliners The Beastie Boys, Bjork and Primal Scream, the Connect festival will also feature performances from a variety of other bands including Jesus and Mary Chain, Jarvis Cocker, Teenage Fanclub and Mogwai.

And those who want some time out from the music can discover a host of other activities in the castle grounds, including giant versions of old-school games like Connect 4 and Operation, woodland walks, Highland Games and a Rest and Be Thankful Spa Tent.

A limited number of tickets are still available for Connect – see www.connectmusicfestival.com for more details.

Scottish Citylink is also providing direct services from Inverness to the Runrig Beat the Drum concert this Saturday (August 18).

Return tickets cost just £10 and passengers can leave on Friday (August 17) or Saturday (August 18) and return either after the concert on Saturday, or the following day (Sunday 19).

Passengers wishing to travel to either festival with Citylink are required to pre-book their journey to guarantee them a seat.  Bookings can be made by contacting Citylink's call centre on 08705 505050 or by visiting www.citylink.co.uk.
