Coach entrepreneur of the future visits Scottish Citylink

14.06.2005

A young coach enthusiast with the drive to succeed paid a visit to his rivals of the future, Scottish Citylink.

Conor Meechan, aged 11, from East Kilbride, met with representatives from Scottish Citylink for a tour of the leading express coach company’s headquarters in Buchanan Bus Station.

The future entrepreneur was keen to meet with Citylink employees to discuss his plans to create an empire of his own.

Conor who has been interested in coaches for as long as he can remember, shared his dreams of owning a company named ’Travel in Style Coaches’ and revealed that he has already devised timetables, adverts and even designs of his future livery.

He said: “For as long as I can remember I have loved buses, the size, the shape and even the smell. My earliest memory is of sitting in my pram watching the buses on the road between Clarkston and Stamperland.

“When I am older I want to have a successful coach company, just like Citylink. Family and friends tell me I could be a lawyer, a teacher or a doctor but I know I would not be happy dong this.”

The staff at Scottish Citylink were so impressed with Conor’s determination in pursuing a career as a coach provider at such a young age, that they presented him with a mock-up of coaches based on his drawings and a model coach to add to his collection.

Colin Stoddart, Marketing Executive at Scottish Citylink, said: “It is a pleasure to have such an enthusiastic young man show a keen interest in the coach industry.

“Conor displays passion and dedication in his plans to create a coach business of his own and he is sure to go far. He’s definitely one to keep an eye on or he could be putting us all out of a job!”

Issued by the BIG partnership on behalf of Scottish Citylink.
