Citylink reassures Islay and Jura residents over policy for concessionary passengers
Citylink has turned to the Ileach to reassure passengers in Islay and Jura regarding its policy for concessionary passengers.
The leading coach operator received a petition from around 500 of the Islands’ residents asking for a return to the system of ‘first come first served’ once pre-booked passengers have boarded.
This has always been the system adopted by Citylink and Marketing Manager, Paul Murphy, clarified the company’s policy.
He said: “Passengers who have reserved a seat or already have a ticket for the journey are given priority in boarding the bus.
“Once these passengers have boarded all other customers are treated on a ‘first come first served’ basis.
“The opportunity to reserve a seat is available to all customers including concessionary cardholders who can pre-book a single journey for £1.50 per journey.
“This practice is fully in accordance with the SPT Concessionary Scheme and has been agreed by officers of the authority.”
Mrs Valinda Fletcher who organised the petition welcomed the clarification from Citylink.
She said: “I am delighted that Citylink has been able to reassure the people of Islay and Jura regarding its policy for boarding the bus.”
Paul continued: “Citylink values our customers in Islay and Jura and I am pleased that we have been able to reassure them regarding our boarding procedures.
“We will continue to work with the local community to ensure they continue to enjoy travelling with Citylink.”
