Seniors welcome new Scottish Citylink Fares

14.10.2004

Scottish Citylink’s new special fares for the over 60s have been welcomed by senior passengers.

Thousands of travellers have already benefited from the £3 return fare between Glasgow and Edinburgh in the first few weeks alone.

A £2 return fare is also available for these customers between Harthill and Edinburgh/Glasgow. The off peak day return is available after 9.30am Monday to Friday and all day Saturday and Sunday.

A day return of £5 has also been introduced between Aberdeen and Dundee with many customers in the north east already taking advantage of the special fare.

Paul Murphy, Marketing Manager at Scottish Citylink, said: “We have had a very positive response from our customers in the over 60 age group with many tickets being booked on-line.

“These routes are very popular with these passengers and we are committed to make travelling as easy as possible by offering value for money fares.”

John Swinburne MSP of the Scottish Senior Citizens Unity Party, said: “Citylink could act as a role model for bus companies throughout the country. I am delighted that they eliminated the vexed cross-boundary problem.

“£3 return from Glasgow to Edinburgh is great value. I now look forward to the implementation of the Labour/Lib Dem pre-election promise of free travel throughout the country for all senior citizens.”

Citylink’s lowest fares are available through the call centre on 08705 50 50 50 or by booking on-line at www.citylink.co.uk.

Senior fares are available through all Citylink outlets including from the driver on board the coach.
