15.07.2004

A record number of passengers used the special Citylink services to T in the Park last weekend.

There was a 25% increase in passengers using the services from Glasgow, Edinburgh and Perth to the festival site at Balado, near Kinross.

A total of 200 buses were used over four days making over 1000 trips to and from the music event.

Friday proved to be the most popular day of travel with an additional 33% travelling compared with last year.

Edinburgh saw the biggest growth overall with an additional 40% travelling over the weekend.

Shuttle bus tickets went on sale in March and the popularity of the service was highlighted with 50% of customers pre-purchasing their tickets of which 40% were bought on-line.

Paul Murphy, Marketing Manager of Scottish Citylink, said: “Our shuttle bus service to T in the Park has been extremely popular with a substantial increase on previous years.

“This is the largest movement of people in Scotland in one weekend and the popularity of our service highlights that festival goers realise this is the best way to travel.”

Says Geoff Ellis, CEO: of DF Concerts: “Once again Citylink has made the journey to and from Balado much easier for music fans. We look forward to working with them again next year!”
