Scottish Citylink today (Monday 7th June 2004) launched its search for a 'Face for Glasgow'.

The leading express coach operator provides the service between Glasgow airport and the city centre and is set to introduce an information service to welcome visitors to the city.

The company is looking for the 'Face of Glasgow' to front the audio-visual presentation which will highlight many of the attractions the city has to offer, from the excellent range of shops to the many tourist attractions and vibrant selection of bars, restaurants and nightclubs.

Paul Murphy, Marketing Manager for Scottish Citylink, said: "Our airport service is the first introduction to the city for many visitors to Glasgow and we want to ensure we create the right impression.

"Through our search for the 'Face of Glasgow' we hope to find the best person to welcome people to the city and tell them about all the great things it has to offer."

Eddie Friel, chief executive of Greater Glasgow & Clyde Valley Tourist Board said: "The warmth and friendliness of Glaswegians is legend and I'm delighted that Citylink is aiming to capture this for the benefit of visitors. I can think of no better introduction to the city's many and varied attractions than an enthusiastic, well informed Glaswegian."

Citylink operates fast and frequent services between Buchanan Bus Station and the airport with departures every ten minutes between 6am and midnight Monday to Saturday and 7am and midnight on Sundays.

The journey takes only 25 minutes with a single available for £3.30 and £5 for a return.

The multimedia project makes use of the latest technology and includes many features including GPS software to trigger specific information at different points on the route.
