Scottish Citylink announce cut price fares to Belfast…

29.03.2004

Scottish Citylink is taking on the budget airlines with cut-price fares on services to Belfast.

The leading express coach operator is continuing to work with Stena and Ulsterbus to provide an integrated service to Belfast from Glasgow and Edinburgh.

Citylink is now regaining its market share following the introduction of easyJet and Go from Glasgow and Edinburgh in 2001. In 2003 Citylink grew passengers numbers by 23% on 2002, reaching the same levels as 2001.

Fares start at £15 for a single and £25 for a return for travel Monday – Thursday. APEX tickets continue at the same fares. These are available for travel at weekends but must be booked at least 5 days in advance. Standard fares are priced at £20 single and £35 return.

The fares are available from Glasgow, Edinburgh and Ayr to Belfast and Derry for travel from 1 April. Dates excluded are 5-18 April, July and August and 20 December - 9 January.

Paul Murphy, Marketing Manager for Scottish Citylink, said: “Citylink has successfully regained market share on this route and we are confident of growing further this year.

“Many customers who switched to the airlines now realise that our service is more cost effective with guaranteed fares and are now returning to coach travel.”

Tickets are available through the call centre on 08705 50 50 50 or by booking online at www.citylink.co.uk.

Issued by the BIG partnership on behalf of Scottish Citylink.
