Scottish Citylink’s CitylinkAIR service has today (Friday 1 July) welcomed five brand new coaches to its fleet on what is the routes third anniversary.

The new look, blue and silver coaches replace the previous fleet of vehicles used on the route which was launched in July 2013 and links Edinburgh Airport and Glasgow city centre.

Four further stops were added to the route in May 2014 allowing employees and visitors heading to Maxim Park to benefit from an additional stop. Passengers can also board and alight at Harthill, Newbridge and Ratho.

Delivering a regular direct service, the coach link operates every 30minutes from morning until night, allowing passengers to catch the first service which leaves Glasgow at 0400hrs, and arrive in time for the earliest flight departure from Edinburgh Airport. The last service leaves the airport at 2230hrs

The new CitylinkAIR fleet is made up of five brand new Scania Irizar I6 vehicles. Each coach now has the added benefit of USB sockets and 4G WiFi allowing passengers to make the most of their time whilst on the go. Each coach seats 59 people or 55 plus a wheelchair* and has ample space for passengers’ full designated luggage allowance. They also feature the latest Euro VI engines, allowing greener travel through reduced emissions.

David Frenz, Scottish Citylink Operations Manager said, “This route has gone from strength to strength over the last three years with thousands of people benefitting from the service every week.

“By introducing these five new, modern, state-of-the-art vehicles we hope that even more customers will use our greener, smarter coach services to travel between Scotland’s biggest city and Scotland’s busiest airport.”

Craig Ritchie Maxim Park Director said, “Maxim Office Park has been served by the Citylink AIR fleet for two years now with a bus arriving every 30 minutes seven days a week, effortlessly connecting the Park with both Glasgow city centre and Edinburgh Airport. It is great to see Citylink investing in this service with five new vehicles and enhanced on-board benefits which will no doubt be a welcome addition for its passengers at Maxim.”
