NATIONAL TRANSPORT PROVIDER SCOTTISH CITYLINK ANNOUNCED AS OOR WULLIE'S BIG BUCKET TRAIL' DISCOVERY PARTNER

Scottish Citylink announce partnership with Oor Wullie's BIG Bucket Trail 2019.

The coach operator, which is a joint venture between Stagecoach and international transport group ComfortDelGro will be the event’s Discovery Partner when adventures begin in the New Year.

The event, which will be the first ever national art trail, will see 150 life-size Oor Wullie sculptures painted by professional artists and placed in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Dundee and Inverness. Hundreds more mini-sculptures will be designed by schools and community groups adding to the spectacular trail.

Funds raised by Oor Wullie's BIG Bucket Trail will support Glasgow Children's Hospital Charity, Edinburgh Children's Hospital Charity and the ARCHIE Foundation, and help children and families from across Scotland.

Peter Knight, Operations Director for Scottish Citylink said: “As a company that serves the whole of Scotland, providing vital links between thousands of communities every day, we’re proud to sponsor this national event and play our part in raising thousands of pounds for these three great charities.

“Our coaches are used by thousands of passengers every day who are commuting to work, visiting friends and family, carrying out day to day activities or enjoying leisure time- our customers come from all walks of life. Just like the people taking to the Oor Wullie trail.

“This innovative project will not only raise vital funds and awareness for Scotland’s children’s hospitals but will allow everyone from across Scotland to have a great time following the trail
of Scotland’s favourite son.”l

As part of the partnership Scottish Citylink will be offering discounted tickets for passengers taking to the trail on selected days. The company will also be launching a competition with schools nationally, inviting them to design one of five coach themed Ooor Wullie sculptures. Each one will be specific to one of the five participating cities. The winning design will also be put onto the side of a coach that provides services in and around the specific city.
