SCOTTISH CITYLINK DISCOUNT SUPPORTS YOUNG PEOPLE

To celebrate the Year of Young People 2018, thousands of young people are to receive a 20% off discount on all Scottish Citylink coach services across Scotland.

All Young Scot cardholders can now benefit from discounts on standard tickets including a single, day return and returns. This discount is available on off-peak and on peak-travel.

The cut-price travel is available to all young people who show the coach driver their Young Scot National Entitlement Card. The discount can also be bought via the Scottish Citylink website - www.citylink.co.uk
Young people can still access child fares and the National Travel Concession - where they offer better value - which are available to young people aged 16-18 and full-time volunteers.

The discount will enable people to access education and employment and other opportunities as well as encouraging young people to explore more of Scotland’s cities and sights, with the discounted tickets available on all Scottish Citylink bus routes across the country.

Scottish Citylink is a major supporter of young people in Scotland, with its very own Sunday Mail Young Scot Awards bus, which can be spotted touring around the country. Young Scot and Scottish Citylink are working together to create more opportunities for young people through the Young Scot Rewards programme in the future.

Scottish Citylink Operations Director Peter Knight said: "This is great news for young people across Scotland. We understand the importance of providing affordable and reliable travel for the many young people who use our services and hope they will take advantage of this fantastic discount. We support the Scottish Government's Developing the Young Workforce initiative and our services are vital in helping young people access education, employment, health and leisure facilities."

Louise Macdonald, Chief Executive of Young Scot, said: “Young Scots will benefit hugely from this exciting Citylink discount. The cost of travel is a major barrier to young people and this discount will help young people to get to where they work or study and keep up with friends and family. It’s also makes it easier for young people to explore Scotland’s amazing sights on a low-cost and greener mode of transport.”
