LARGER COACHES TO IMPROVE JOURNEY FOR INVERNESS-ULLAPOOL PASSENGERS

Scottish Citylink has announced service improvements for customers travelling between Inverness and Ullapool on its 961 service

The coach operator will introduce replacement Plaxton Panther 15m vehicles from 17 December, providing more seats and an improved environment for passengers using the route.

Acting on feedback from passengers and stakeholders, Citylink has introduced the vehicles onto the route to maximise the space available to passengers, particularly during peak travel times.

The additional seats will inevitably improve the journey experience for travellers on this service, especially those people living in Stornoway.

The timetable will remain the same with two journeys per day, six days a week and one trip on a Sunday.

Operations Director for Scottish Citylink, Peter Knight said: “Acting on feedback from our passengers and various stakeholders we’re introducing these larger coaches with greater capacity to ensure customers have a much more enjoyable and comfortable journey on the 961 service.  We will continue to monitor capacity closely and add additional coaches where necessary, 12 more seats available for booking per departure will inevitably improve things for all travellers on this service.”

Comhairle nan Eilean Siar’s Chair of Transportation and Infrastructure, Cllr Uisdean Robertson said: “I very much welcome the additional seating capacity to be provided by Citylink on the 961 service between Ullapool and Inverness. This should reduce the number of times additional coaches will be needed, particularly at peak times. It is still important to remember that seats should be booked in advance to ensure that demand is met.”

Scottish Citylink is a joint venture between Perth-based transport group Stagecoach and international transport operator ComfortDelGro. Tickets can be bought online from www.citylink.co.uk or by calling the contact centre on 0871 266 3333.
